Ruby Clingain R.I.P



I would like to pass on my condolences and the condolences of the ex-residents of Springtown Camp to the family of Ruby Clingain, Michael her husband and her two daughters Siobhan and Tara and friends.?Ruby was a former resident of Springtown Camp and it is with great sadness we hear of her passing.We would like to offer our deepest sympathy to Sadie ,ruby's sister who writes for the website and brings great joy and amusement with her musings.We would also like to offer our sympathy to Ben, Ruby's brother who is also a regular contributor to the website.

 

Ruby was born in the Lower Road from where she moved to 89 Bogside. She was evacuated during wartime to Ballyness and Shanlongford.Ruby then moved to 228 Springtown Camp and lived there until 1955.She then moved to Creggan Heights were she lived until 1960. Ruby had many friends, among her closest were Kathleen Diamond and Peggy McDermott and later Phyllis Gormley and Kathleen Gooch.Ruby worked with her mother and Sadie in Tillies from the age of 14.Ruby then emigrated as a nanny to Long Island in 1960.She worked in New York before moving to Cleveland, Ohio with her husband Michael her daughters Siobhan and Tara and her mother.Ruby worked as line manager with Sears Roebuck in Ohio.She will be dearly missed.
